In order for the contractor to obtain the required permit to install your system the contractor must be registered with the municipality in which the work is to be performed, he or she must provide current valid proof of license and certificate of liability insurance. There are a number of competent installers who do good work, but they may not be licensed. When a contractor holds a valid license there is accountability for all contractual work. He must also follow all regulations, codes and standards. This in turn gives you the consumer peace of mind knowing that you have recourse and that the contractor can be held accountable. You won't have to worry about the infamous taillight warranty (good for as long as you can see his taillights). Licensed landscape irrigators and technicians are governed by the state of Texas and directly accountable to the TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality), which oversees the irrigation industry in Texas.
